Matt
Brailsford is definitely one to watch in the Umbraco community.
He's recently sprung up on the Umbraco scene, and has made himself
a big presence in the forum and on twitter. He's authored no less
than 7
Umbraco projects (and counting!), is speeding his way to the
top of the people chart on the forum, and I'm pretty certain he's
destined for MVP status next year.
Anyway, in the past couple of weeks we have managed to cobble
together the Umbraco Editors Manual from user manuals that
both of us had lying around that we'd worked separately. It's been
extremely well received by the community with feedback rating of
over 50 votes since it's been released! As Matt says in his blog post about it, 'it stands as a good
example of how anybody can contribute, even if you can't yet code
those killer extensions.'
We're currently working towards incorporating the contents of
the manual into the Umbraco context-sensitive help menus. This
means that we've been given the authorisation to mess with what any
Umbraco 4.5 user on the planet sees when they click the Help button
in the Umbraco back-end. Not only is this slightly scary, it's also
a great example of how the Umbraco core team are constantly
involving the community, and thus motivating them to bigger and
better things. (I also think that the community has a similar
effect on the core team, which completes the virtuous cycle, but
then I'd just be gushing :)
