On Friday last, ten of us met up in the SAS offices in London
for the first Umbraco UK Developers Meeting. It was a great
success, very enjoyable, informative, and as always Umbracians tend
to be a nice group of people to spend time with. A day spent
listening to clever people talk about clever ways of using Umbraco,
personally I took a lot out of it. Including 6 A4 sheets of
notes!
So I'm going to include those notes here on my blog for your
viewing pleasure. As there's such a lot of content, I've tried to
break it into related chunks so that it isn't so much a stream of
consciousness from a long day and to make it a little easier to
find the best bits.
There are three separate blog entries to come:
1.
Summary of the Day: this is kind of like the minutes and
includes who attended and what we covered. It's basically the
narrative of the day, from start to finish.
2.
Tips and Tricks: there were loads of tasty bits of information
being shared throughout the day and I've tried to pull them out
into a separate list. Lots of these you'll no doubt be familiar
with, but hopefully there'll be something of use in there to nearly
everyone.
3.
State of the Art: this is like a statement of how Umbraco is
perceived in the UK at the moment. Okay, so there were only nine of
us there so hardly a representative sample, but it could be useful
for the Umbraco team to see what kinds of things we like, what
things we don't like, and what we don't really understand or are
confused about. This is definitely one to start some debate!
I hope you find it a useful and interesting read. If you were
there and you think that I've forgotten anything or made any
mistakes then please let me know.
Enjoy,
David
